European research project Saferail
Saferail seeks to minimise wheel and axle defects in two ways. First, it is developing a new system for checking the wheels and axles of moving vehicles. Second, it is developing a combined ultrasonic-electromagnetic system for faster and more reliable quality control of new and old wheelsets during production and maintenance.
